The Light In The Library
[Directed by Denise Elia Yen]
Four teens lock themselves in their local library to get down to the truth about the "light" in the library. After several encounters with the ghost of Annabelle Linton, Paige, Gabby, Autumn, and Sam (me) open a book under the moonlight peeping through the library's sky light window and chaos quickly ensued. Meeting characters such as Snow White, the Seven Dwarves, Romeo, the Mad Hatter, and many more, the four friends work hard to take them all back to their stories. I played Gabby's air-headed, jock sidekick and I designed the lights for both the pre show/band concert and the play. I also trained four juniors on theater tech, specifically lighting design. I wrote about my experience and process here.

Error 147
[Directed by Allison Frenzel - Choreographed by Izzy Contreras & Katy Lohse]
Nueva's Error 147 is an original production directed by Nueva's own english teacher, Mrs. Allison Frenzel, and choreographed by the Movement Lab's very own teachers/students, Izzy Contreras and Katy Lohse. The production was an interpretive dance theater show that inspired inquisitive thought and provoked suspision towards one's loyalty and extreme beliefs. Many left the theater with their own interpretations of the meaning behind the performances. For this production I had the privelege of taking over the lighting design and had the wonderful opportunity of performing a song and dance at the very beginning of the show. The 45 minute dance show was not only completely student driven, it also was directed by a first time director and Nueva english instructor, Allison Frenzel. Here is a reflective essay of my experience with this unique production.

PIPPIN
[Directed by Clark Houston Lewis - Choreographed by Michella Snider]
Pippin is a 2-hour long musical about a young, college graduate, and also prince of the Roman Empire, who is trying to find his place in the world. In this production I played the role of Pippin who is guided by an acting troupe and their Leading Player. Pippin is led to try to find his corner of the sky through education, war, women, politics, being king, and, finally, an ordinary life. Feeling as though he was misled and as though he has no purpose, Pippin, talks to his grandmother Berthe, his father King Charlemagne, and even his devious step-mother Fastrada for advice. This musical performance filled with magic, merriment, and dancing, was directed by Clark Lewis, founder of the renowned theater company, Roustabout and was choreographed by Michella Snider.

the new normal
[Directed by Melecio Estrella, Andrew Ward, and Ben Juodvalkis]
Nueva's The New Normal is an original production choreographed and directed by the Fogbeast dance company and Ben Juodvalkis. In this production, Nueva students address the pressing issues of climate change through spoken word pieces, dancing, singing, and film. Nueva's The New Normal, encapsulates the full spectrum of the talent found in the program. The poetry, spoken dialogues, instrumental accompaniment, and songs were all written, composed, and performed by the students in the program. In this short 45 minute production, I was one of the four main lead singers throughout the whole performance, as well as one of the dancers for the opening scene of the show.
